T5 Lights

Postby wanamensis » Mon Jan 11, 2010 8:12 pm

Hi,

Can some one tell me where I can find T5 - 4 foot long fluorescent tubes 54w, and also the ballasts to go with it so that I can retrofit several t12 fixtures. T12 bulbs will soon be off the market I hear and the T% are much more economical - cost effective and light producing.

I do not want to pay aquarium store prices these should be available in the hardware store.?
It would have to be in the Toronto, Mississauga or Brampton areas.

Thanks

John

They are starting to sell the T5's in the hardware stores, I have seen them at Lowe's

If we need, lets see if we can get a few people in on this and I can try to arrange a bulk purchase from a supplier that I know.

Cawthrae Electrric in Mississauga sells ballast for T5 for 24ins 2lamp for CA32.74.
Just for your info. If there is anywhere cheaper will be good to know.

I was at Aquatic Kingdom today, they have alot of Led lightings from China, but not cheap depending and quality
questionable.

I was at home depot Brampton( next to our meeting venue), they have 24in and 36ins T5 complete sets/2tubes for $36 to $39, the unit only. But they do have single tube units with tube included.
