Looking to expand my collection

Postby Mitch KK » Wed Dec 30, 2009 11:43 pm

Let's get started

I am looking to expand my livebearer collection. Does anyone out there have anything for sale or trade? Also, anyone going to ALA convention in Detroit?

Thanks
Mitch

He Mitch, I have planned on going but maybe we could get several people together and go and share a room etc.

Haven't been to a livebearer convention in a few years, need to get some new fish.

The more the merrier.

Thanks

John

For something like this, what about border crossings? Is there a duty on fish? What are the regulations and/or rates?

I have a group of live bearer Pike fish (killi pike fish), Belonesox belizanus. I did have many successful breeding but the problem is they kill each other as such have only females and few small males. I am still looking around for adult male since the adult female kill her maid, but hard to find in LFS. I sold a couple of pairs in the last auction.

Denise,

The ALA convention is in Detroit, see our Calendar section on the website all the next 3 months conventions should now be on there.

In regards to crossing the border, most fish can cross without any issues, there is no duty and it is best to declare them, if you get cought without decalring them you are in a whole lot of trouble. The issue would be taking them into the US if you are showing fish, the US customs have become sticklers for details and they have imposed almost a $100 inspection fee to bring fish in.

Easy to get them into Canada, tougher to get them into the US.

Thanks

Hi Fisheye,

I have had the pike livebearers also, just like you had the same issue, the only way I could raise the fry was one per container, since when the fry got hungry they would eat their fellow siblings.

Thanks

HI John,

Yes it will take up alot of tanks. I have not decided yet, will you be interested to take over my stock.
I have one breeding female about 5ins, six 4ins female, one male 4ins and about ten 2ins, 4male 6female.

I will decide by April prior my trip to Singapore for 2months since I need tank space.

If you are interested, let me know, so that I have you in mind. Cheers Laurence
